Happy New Year from BL

Happy New Year!  After  a day housebound on account of freezing rain, New Year’s Eve and Day has brought squalls and streamers off Georgian Bay… leaving us with 6 to 8 inches of lovely fresh snow (see photos attached).

As you plan for the coming year, mark the following dates on your calendar:

  • Sunday May 17th
  • Sunday June 28th
  • Sunday July 26th
  • Sunday September 6th
  • Sunday October 11th

Do also set aside Thursday March 19th for our annual Field Trip to the final day of taping for Canada Reads 2020.

  • This year’s Canada Reads theme and the longlist of 15 books will be announced on Jan. 8, 2020.
  • The final books and the panellists who will be defending them will be revealed on Jan. 22, 2020.
  • The debates will take place March 16-19, 2020.

That’s a wrap!

That’s it for this season of the Bass Lake Book Club.

Please refer to the attached PDF file for the summary notes regarding our discussion of CROW by Amy Spurway, which was generally very well received by all, and provoked lots of interesting conversation.

Amy Spurway will be appearing at the Toronto International Festival of Authors on Sunday November 3rd.  Find details and purchase tickets here.
